In the Fall of 2007, the former Andrews School and Phillips-Osborne School officially merged to form the new Andrews Osborne Academy. Previously located in
Painesville, Ohio , the Phillips-Osborne School has relocated entirely to Willoughby. This gives Willoughby its first coeducational boarding and day school.The Andrews School
Founded originally as a
vocational school in 1910, the Andrews School prepared women for careers in textiles and manufacturing, among other things. In the mid 1980's, the Andrews School became a college preparatory academy, shifting its focus entirely from vocation to higher education. It has since enjoyed academic success with an average SAT score of 1650 coupled with 100% enrollment in accredited four year colleges and universities. Unlike the Andrews School, the Phillips-Osborne School has always been coeducational, but has primarily served grades three through eight--the Andrews School serving grades seventh through twelve. Academics
Andrews offers a college preparatory curriculum with 100% of students going on to accredited 4-year colleges and universities upon graduation from Andrews. Campus Life at Andrews
Students are encouraged to explore the world around them, both inside and outside the classroom. Students have a number of opportunities to develop leadership skills through clubs and organizations, athletics, student government, class trips, as well as a host of Andrews School traditional events.
Boarding students live in one of five Victorian style dorms and have the opportunity to go participate in off-campus excursions such as trips to Cleveland Museums, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, shopping centers, concerts, and much more. Approximately 50% of Andrews students reside on-campus and hail from six different countries and ten states.
Athletics
Andrews School has a strong tradition of athletic participation making it possible for any student that is interested to be on a team. Students can choose which sport they want to participate in. Athletics include equestrian, soccer, tennis, volleyball during the fall, during the winter sports are equestrian and basketball and during the spring season sports are lacrosse, fast pitch softball and equestrian. Equestrian
The Andrews School is known for its nationally ranked riding team and state-of-the-art facilities. Students are invited to join the team (IEA or drill team), take lessons or join the horse back riding club.
