- Robert Berry (musician)
Robert Berry is an American
progressive rock musician whose collaborations withKeith Emerson andCarl Palmer (two-thirds ofEmerson, Lake & Palmer ) resulted in the 1987 debut of 3. Their debut album,To the Power of Three , featured a synthesizer-laden cover ofThe Byrds ' "Eight Miles High ", plus several original pop compositions from Berry, who played both electric bass and lead guitar. The first single "Talkin' 'Bout" hit the number 6 spot on the Billboard top 100.Rolling Stone , unsurprisingly, gave the album abysmal ratings, but their 3 month tour of the US helped push the single up the charts and was mostly sold out. Since the dissolution of 3, Robert Berry has participated in several projects, including a tribute album to Yes. He was also involved in an abortive follow-up to GTR in which he replacedSteve Hackett . Material from this project and an unreleased second 3 album appeared on Berry's solo album "Pilgrimage to a Point" available at Robertberry.com. Berry's current band Alliance is composed of top musicians Gary Pihl from the band Boston on guitar, David Lauser from theSammy Hagar Band on drums and Alan Fitzgerald fromNight Ranger on keyboards. He also has contributed songs to a number of film soundtracks, including theAnthony Michael Hall film "Out of Bounds".External links
