Her best two finishes at the 2002 world championships were both 8th place finishes, in the 400 m and in the marathon.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics, she finished fourth in the Women's 800m wheelchair. She also participated in the 2004 Summer Paralympics, taking a bronze medal in both the 400 metre and 1500 metre races.
At the 2008 Summer Paralympics Roy was initially awarded the gold medal in the women's 5000 m T54. However a re-run of the race was ordered by the International Paralympic Committee following protests by the Australian, US and Swiss teams after 6 competitors were involved in a crash on the penultimate lap.[1] The re-run race resulted in the same three athletes winning medals but in a different order, with Roy this time winning silver.[2]
She is an inductee into the Terry Fox Hall of Fame.
