Football career
After entering the club's youth system at age 12, Tábuas made his professional debuts with Vitória Futebol Clube in 1998–99, spending the vast majority of his career at the Setúbal-based outfit as a backup. He did manage 19 first division appearances in 2004–05, having been previously loaned to lowly Desportivo de Beja, in his first professional year.
In July 2008, after 13 years, Tábuas was released by Vitória and joined S.C.U. Torreense in the third level. After a sole campaign, he returned to Alentejo after his experience in Beja, moving to another side in level three, S.C. Mineiro Aljustrelense, and retiring at the end of the season at the age of 33.
