Note
- ^ Most English language sources translate "the Church of Sourn Nshan" as "the Church of the Holy Cross" or "the Church of the Sign of the Holy Cross" while others translate it as "the Church of St. Nishan". As best as this editor can guess, the word "Sourb" translates as "Saint" or "Holy" and "Nshan" translates as "Cross" or "Sign of the Cross." Accordingly, the saint may have used "Sign of the Cross" as his clerical name and churches named "Soub Nshan" may be given either of the translations just described. See "Haghpat Monastery" for longer list of St. Nishan references.
