3GG is a regional talk radio station that operates in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. It was owned and operated by Macquarie Regional RadioWorks before their sale to Resonate Broadcasters in March 2008 and broadcasts on 531 on the AM band. The station started in 1937, then known as 3UL, named after the town from which it broadcast, Warragul. It changed its name to 3GG on November 4, 1989 with the "GG" standing for Greater Gippsland.

While the transmitter location has always remained on Brandy Creek Road just North of Warragul, the studio location has over the years changed from Warragul to Traralgon and back to Warragul at its current location of 31 Warragul-Korumburra Rd Warragul.

History

Up until 2002, 3GG was the main radio station of the area and kept up with the modern trends in music and broadcasting flavour. With the introduction of mainstream FM stations in the area, 3GG changed its format to a more easy listening and talk radio format. The modern format moved to the FM band with the introduction of Sea FM on the frequency of 94.3MHz broadcasting from Allambee in the hills of the Strzelecki Ranges to the South of Warragul. Sea FM and 3GG was part of the RG Capital Radio, before RG Capital sold their regional stations to Macquarie Regional RadioWorks in 2004 and Sea FM then changed to Star FM still broadcasting on 94.3MHz from its location in Allambee and also expanding its reach simulcasting on 97.9MHz into the Latrobe Valley from the TV transmitter site located at Mt Tassie to the South of Traralgon.

3GG is one of the few remaining AM stations in the area to broadcast in Motorola C-QUAM AM_stereo.
