Gippsland , Victoria,Australia . It was owned and operated byMacquarie Regional RadioWorks before their sale to Resonate Broadcasters in March 2008 and broadcasts on 531 on the AM band. The station started in 1937, then known as 3UL, named after the town from which it broadcast, Warragul. It changed its name to 3GG onNovember 4 ,1989 with the "GG" standing for Greater Gippsland.While the transmitter location has always remained on Brandy Creek Road just North of Warragul, the studio location has over the years changed from
Warragul toTraralgon and back toWarragul at its current location of 31 Warragul-Korumburra RdWarragul .History
Up until 2002, 3GG was the main radio station of the area and kept up with the modern trends in music and broadcasting flavour. With the introduction of mainstream
FM stations in the area, 3GG changed its format to a more easy listening and talk radio format. The modern format moved to theFM band with the introduction of Sea FM on the frequency of 94.3MHz broadcasting fromAllambee in the hills of theStrzelecki Ranges to the South ofWarragul . Sea FM and 3GG was part of theRG Capital Radio , before RG Capital sold their regional stations toMacquarie Regional RadioWorks in2004 and Sea FM then changed toStar FM still broadcasting on 94.3MHz from its location inAllambee and also expanding its reach simulcasting on 97.9MHz into theLatrobe Valley from the TV transmitter site located atMt Tassie to the South ofTraralgon .3GG is one of the few remaining AM stations in the area to broadcast in
