Originally named "The Asterisk Young Artist Project", the space was opened on November 16, 2002 by brothers
Aaron Mason andCory Mason . The space opened as an art gallery for emerging artists hosting monthly show openings with live music, and in recent years has become a hotspot for independent and local performers.In 2006 a second Asterisk,
Asterisk Hawaii , opened in Honolulu hosting photo shoots, exhibitions, live musical performances, and film productions.Today
The Asterisk Art Project remains a quasi-legal performance venue with strong ties to the community and support from
