Fawwaz bin Abdul Aziz

HRH Prince Fawwaz bin Abdul Aziz (1934- July 22, 2008), Governor of Riyadh and later of Makkah, was a member of the House of Saud and son of the first monarch of Saudi Arabia, Ibn Saud, by his wife Bazza.

He was appointed Governor of Riyadh 1960, but stepped down in 1961, then became part of Saudi Arabia's socialist Free Princes movement in 1962-1964. Rehabilitated by the late King Faisal in 1971, he was appointed Governor of Makkah, and then removed from office in by the late King Khalid in 1980, after the 1979 seizure of the Grand Mosque.

He was a founding member of the Bay'ah Council, and the only full brother of Prince Bandar bin Abdul Aziz. He had a wide range of business activities related to property development in the kingdom.
