The mountains extend from Interstate 5 at Gorman, to theAntelope Valley Freeway at Vincent. The Sierra Pelona Mountains are bordered bySan Gabriel Mountains to the south,Santa Clarita Valley to the southwest,San Emigdio Mountains to the northwest and theAntelope Valley to the north and northeast. TheSan Andreas Fault lie north of the mountains, in Elizabeth Lake.Tejon Pass is amountain pass that separates the mountains of Sierra Pelonas, San Emigdios, and the Tehacahpis, near Gorman and Lebec. The Sierra Pelona Mountains are shared by Kern (southern) and Los Angeles (northwest) Counties. The Sierra Pelona Mountains are often considered to be part of theSan Gabriel Mountains , but the two are separated by theSoledad Canyon to the south that connects the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.Snow is frequent in the high areas of Sierra Pelonas during thewinter s, but are prone towildfire s in thesummer andfall , when theSanta Ana winds are often.Highest Peaks
