Surrey Memorial Hospital is a publicly funded
hospital in the city of Surrey,British Columbia ,Canada that began operation in 1959.The hospital is one of thirteen hospitals under the jurisdiction of the
Fraser Health Authority , which services more than 1.3 million people.Surrey Memorial is the second largest hospital in British Columbia and has the busiest emergency department.
The hospital offers general medical services, as well as a dedicated pediatrics emergency area, a regional referral centre for specialized pediatrics and maternity care, hospice, and two extended care units. In addition, there is an Adolescent and an Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Unit.
In March 2008, the hospital reached the news after a man from Surrey, BC demanded that the hospital be held accountable after he was allegedly taken to emergency unconscious but uninjured and came out with broken, dislocated shoulders and a broken hip.
