Big Bang!

The GSM offers many opportunities for those interested in playing recreational sports. There are various intramural teams that compete against other teams on campus in sports such as flag football, soccer, basketball, and innertube water polo. Perhaps the most widely acclaimed sports team affiliated with the GSM, however, is the Big Sticks softball team that competes in the city of Davis softball league in the Fall, Spring, and Summer seasons. The Big Sticks were formed in the summer of 2007 by a few students who were interning locally in the area and were looking for a way to display their athletic prowess for the city. With the help of a few graduating second year students and working professionals, the Big Sticks were able to go 5-2 in their first season. The team has subsequently maintained a .667 winning percentage winning the league title in Spring 2008.
