- Knights of Runes
The Knights of Runes (KOR) [http://www.knights-of-runes.com] is an
occult order based in theUnited States of America dedicated to the revival and study of theArmanen runes ofGuido von List .The order was established by
Karl Hans Welz upon his emigration to theUSA fromAustria in 1984. The Order was advertised in New Age magazines, and attracted numbers in the low hundreds. however, Welz later discontinued working in his position as Grand Rune Master of the KOR, which caused its quick disappearance, as Welz had distribut the Order teachings himself, and had not established a hierarchy. In 1993 he put the lessons up for free on the internet. The KOR was later revised byLarry E. Camp (aka Dietrich) based inOhio , who was given the charter for the Order by Welz. However, Welz disliked the revised form of the KOR, which, he states, had a "folkish" element, and has since re-established his own rival KOR.The main practice of the KOR is rune "yoga" (body and hand positions or mudras, accompanied by particular chants or "songs," each position and song being a meditation on a particular Armanen rune) formulated by
Friedrich Bernhard Marby , though developed by Welz, among others. The teachings of the KOR are based on the Armanen runes ofGuido von List .ee also
