Electoral district of Greenslopes

Electoral district of Greenslopes

The division of Greenslopes is a Queensland Legislative Assembly electoral district in the southern Brisbane suburb of Greenslopes in the Australian state of Queensland. The electorate is centred on the Brisbane suburb of Greenslopes and stretches north to parts of Norman Park and as far south as Tarragindi.

Greenslopes was created at the 1959 electoral redistribution from the former electorates of Buranda and Bulimba. It was held by the Liberal Party from 1960 to 1983, when it was won by Leisha Harvey for the National Party following the collapse of the National-Liberal coalition in Queensland. The seat is currently held by Gary Fenlon, of the Labor Party, who first won it in the 1989 election that brought Wayne Goss and Labor to power after many decades. Greenslopes was won by the Liberal Party at the 1995 election but was reclaimed by Fenlon for Labor in 1998.
