Chelembra is a panchayath in Tirurangadi taluk of Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is bordered by Pallikkal, Thenjipalam, Vallikunnu, Ramanattukara and Kadalundi panchayaths.

NH-17 enters this panchayath at Idimuzhikal.

History

The history of Chelembra not found any written documents, but it is believed to be ruled by local landlords known as Embranthiris resides at Thiruvangattu.

Economy

Idimuzhikkal is one of the main commercial hubs of Chelembra. The economy is mainly business oriented. Eurospin Industries, One of the main industries in chelembrea has recently shut down due to labour strikes. Chelembra has witnessed a building boom in recent years along the sides of two National Highways and Bypass road. This is particularly evident in the number of Shopping complexes built in recent years. Chelembra is developing in a high pace with the development of KINFRA industrial park at Kakanchery by the Kerala government. This is the first of its kind in the state. Other planned projects include the Cyber park at Ramanattukara. Close proximity to Calicut airport and University of calicut and 2 major national highways fuels the development of Chelembra.

CHELEMBRA IS THE FIRST IT LITERACY COMPLETED PANCHAYATH IN MALAPPURAM DT^{[citation needed]}

• There are some prestigious educational institutions around like Bhavans Vidaya mandir located at Idimuzhikkal, Devaki Amma college of Pharmacy and DA school of Architecture
• Elannummel Siva temple,Perumanashery sankaranarayana temple,subramannya swami temple, Theru Ganapathi temple and Chelooppadam Mosque, Elannummal Mosque, Kuroangoth Mosque, Perunneeri Mosque, Panayappuram juma Masjid are a few.

Buses plying from Ramanattukara to Kolakkuth pass through the center of Chelembra. A few of the very old schools are situated in this Panchayath. e.g.: Kolakkat Chali ALP school, Chelooppadam AMMAM UP school, KN MUHAMMED MEMORIAL PRE PRIMARY SCHOOL, Elannummel School. Many other schools are also there such as Bhavan's Vidyashram.

The main high school is NNMHS Chelembra. The Chelembra Panchayath are ruling by UDF. Hassan, C. (IUML) is the present president and Dileep Kumar is the vice president (INC). UDF re-elected in the power in recent local government election. This time the turn of Mrs. Shahina as the president of Chelembra Panchayath for the next five years.

Chelembra is the first Panchayath in Kerala which got 100% computer literacy by implementing Akshaya programme successfully in the Panchayath. Also it got the state award called "Nirmal" for the best Panchayath in Kerala.

The main places in Chelembra Panchayath are Chakkulangara, Kolakkattu Chali, Paingotoor, Pulliparamba, Elannummal, Kolakkuth, Perunneeri, Panayapuram, Chaliparambu, Perunthodipadam, and Kakanchery.
