Kiev metropolitan area

The Kiev metropolitan area ( _uk. Київська агломерація; "Kyivs’ka ahlomeratsia") is an agglomeration consisting of the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, its satellite towns and nearest rural areas ("located within Kiev Oblast") closely bound to the city by employment and commerce.

The metropoliten area includes the following cities: Kiev, Berezan, Boryspil, Brovary, Vasylkiv, Irpin, Rzhyschiv, and Fastiv.

It also includes 11 raions of Kiev Oblast: Baryshivskyi, Boryspilskyi, Borodianskyi, Brovarskyi, Fastivskyi, Kaharlytskyi, Kyievo-Sviatoshynskyi, Makarivskyi, Obukhivskyi, Vasylkivskyi and Vyshhorodskyi.

The area is linked to Kiev through the suburban railways and minibuses.

* Suburban population: 1,076,000.
* Total area: 13,534 km².
* Population density: 268,4 people/km².
