Ajmer Military School, Ajmer, founded in 1930, is a military school located in Ajmer, Rajasthan state, India.

The objective of the military school is to impart education to the boys to enable them to take examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and also to prepare them to join the defence forces as commissioned officers.

Overview

AJM has four hostels named Ashoka - AK, Subhash - SC, Pratap - PP and Prithviraj - PJ. The school is situated at the scenic foot of Mount Madar. The school is located near the main Bus Stand. School has a very good reputation amongst all the public schools of India and especially in Ajmer. It gives tough competition to all schools in all spheres of activities including Academics.

        The campus includes the Academic Block, Student Hostels, Teachers Residence, 

Support staff residences, Mess, Grounds, Gymnasium, Swimming pool, MI room, Stores, and Dhobi Ghats. There is a very old Shiva Temple along with one prayer cum Pooja Hall.

         The Students join the school in class 6th (Sixth) and continue their education up to  class 12th (twelfth). All these students stay in Hostel for the duration of their studies in school. There are few Day Boarders also and kids/wards of School staff who are studying in school. They attend all activities of school starting from morning PT (Health Run), Academic classes, Afternoon Prep
(for doing home work or self study) followed by Evening Games (such as Football, 

Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and Swimming). Other indoor games

and sources of entertainment are available at Hostels. School Provides an all
round development to all students. There are competitions held for dramatics,
poetry recitation for juniors, speech, declamation and Debate competitions
apart from wood-work and Art & Drawing.

History

Military School Ajmer was founded in 1930 as King George’s Royal Indian Military School and was designated as a College in 1945. The school was designed to give education to the sons of soldiers, NCOs and JCOs as would fit them for a career in the Armed Forces.

After independence, a Parliamentary committee headed by Dr. HN Kunzuru recommended the re-organization of all King George’s Royal Indian Military College on public school lines. The schools were later recognized in 1952. Since 1954 the school has been a member of the IPSC (Indian Public Schools Conference). The name King Georges School was changed to Ajmer Military School Ajmer. Since 1976 the school has switched over to the 10+2 scheme of the Central Board of Secondary Education.

The name of the school has been changed to Rashtriya Military School, Ajmer.

Area

The school is 400 km from Delhi and 3 km from the railway station, near bus stand along the Jaipur – Ajmer Road. The town is on the south side of Madar Hill. The school is spreaded in 78 acre of area in main Ajmer city.
