KNWZ-970 and KNWQ-1140 are two AM dials of one radio station, "K-News" based in the Palm Springs area and serves the Coachella Valley in Southern California.

KNWZ/KNWQ has a news and talk format, a Fox News radio affiliate and under the ownership of Morris Communications, locally known as Morris Desert Media based in Palm Springs.

KNWQ's transmitter is in Palm Springs (for the Western Coachella Valley and the Banning area), while KNWZ is in Coachella 25 miles to the east (for the Eastern Coachella, and Imperial Valleys. Both transmitters are low-powered and can reach a 30-mile radius.

"K-News" and Morris Desert Media operates a second news/talk format station KNWT 1270 "K-News 2" and its' transmittor in Palm Desert, broadcasts in a 30-mile radius from Coachella to Desert Hot Springs.

"K-News" also owns and operates KNWH 1250 in the town of Twentynine Palms serving the sparsely populated Morongo Basin area in a 30-mile radius.

The "K-News" radio station (KNWZ/KNWQ) has produced several local news-talk and call-in opinion programs, like the "Marshall and Stone Show" on weekdays, and "The Bill "The Bulldog" Feingold Show" on Saturdays.

KNWZ/KNWQ is the local outlet for nationally syndicated radio hosts Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Phil Hendrie, and Art Bell and George Noory in the Coast-to-Coast AM program late at night.

KNWT "K-News 2" is the local broadcast for Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Larry King, both live on the radio station. "K-News" has a long history as an affiliate for Dr. Laura and Larry King programs.

KNWZ or "K-News" went on the air in 1988 on AM dial 1270, but suspended operations in 1994. Restarted as "News 1010" (KCMJ) in March 1995, the owners decidedly restored the call letters and "K-News" title in July 1998.

"K-News" had ran three FM radio dials on 94.3, 103.9 and 106.9 MHz from April 1995 to October 1996, when their FM radio dials changed station formats under Morris Communications, purchased KNWZ or "K-News" in November 1994.

KNWZ "K-News" 1010 moved to the current twin AM dials 970 and 1140 on January 1, 2001. They acquired KCMJ 1270 and reformatted it to "K-News 2" (KNWT) in August 2004, but will switch to new call letters KFUT 1270 and under a Spanish language sports talk format, "Futbol y Deportes" in February 2007.
