Linda Lael Miller (born 1949 in Washington as Linda Lael), is a best-selling author of more than seventy contemporary and historical romance novels. She has also written under the pen name Lael St. James.

Miller was raised in Northport, Washington, where her father was a town marshal. A bright student, she was named the valedictorian of her high school class. Miller admits to having wanderlust, and has spent time living in London, Italy, and Arizona. She has recently had a house built on thirty wooded acres in Spokane, and is planning to make that her permanent home as on January 2006. She is an avid horseman and currently owns four horses, as well as two dogs.

Many of Miller's books are set in Arizona or other part of the Western United States, where she lived for many years, and her heroines are known for being extremely strong women. Miller also wrote a very popular series of vampire romances, and has experimented with other paranormal romances as well.

Good Works

Miller has established a foundation, the Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women. These scholarships are intended to allow women who are struggling to further their education, either through a trade school or a traditional college or university. The scholarships are funded by the fees Miller commands at speaking engagements, and winners are allowed to spend the proceeds on any expense (including childcare and transportation) that will allow her to attend school. Miller is also an advocate of the Humane Society of the United States, and is planning several projects with them.
