"The Night That Made America Famous" is a musical written by folk singer Harry Chapin. After fourteen previews, the production opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on February 26, 1975. Chapin's brothers Tom and Stephen, in addition to being featured performers, were also in the pit. The production also included a young Lynne Thigpen.
