Pacific Islands Bible College

Pacific Islands Bible College

Pacific Islands Bible College is a four-year and college graduate-level seminary accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). While the main campus is in Mangilao, Guam, United States, there is a second campus on the island of Tol in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. Additionally, there are teaching facilities in Weno, Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia; Koror, Palau; and Colonia, Yap, Federated States of Micronesia.

History

Founded in 1976, as the Micronesian Institute of Biblical Studies on the island of Tol in Chuuk, in 1991 the school changed its name to Pacific Islands Bible College, added a new site on Guam, and began to offer the Associate of Arts (AA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees in Bible. In 1995 they established a campus in Mangilao. In 2004 the school received accreditation from TRACS. The accreditation opened up financial aid opportunities for students and established quality standards for the degrees. With this in place the school has steadily grown and now has over 200 students, most of whom are Micronesians. In 2008 PIBC started a small graduate-level seminary program and began offering a Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) degree.

Administration

The board of directors for Pacific Islands Bible College represents the Evangelical Church of Chuuk, Liebenzell Mission International, Palau Evangelical Church, and Yap Evangelical Church. The faculty and staff consists of islanders, as well as missionaries from Ecuador, Germany, the Philippines, and the United States.
