Rabo de Junco (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: "Rabu di Junku, also in the São Vicente Crioulo: "Rab' d' Junk'') is a remote village in the western part of the island of Sal. The area overlooks a nearby promontory as well as a homonymous islet westward. The village is about 7 km southwest of Espargos and has a road linking to the island capital and a remote road linking with Murdeira.

Geography

Rabo de Junco features palm trees while short cliffs dominate the coastline, much of the area is flat and has deserts that features traces or no bushes and plants, its climate its dry and features rarely any rainfall. Crop production including fruits and vegetables, wheat, dairy and other kinds of food are entirely exported.

Information

Most of the houses are built with mud-brick and stone, the rest are concrete or sand with stone and some houses are built with brick and steel reinforced concrete. The area is in the island's low class. A part of the needy materials comes from the island capital, the island capital and the diaspora. But for other needs, electricity, communications, appliances and street lights are partially available in the area as well as phone lines since the late-20th century. A part of the necessities also comes from the island capital.

The village offers a view of the island as well as several mountains to the north, Monte Grande to the northeast and parts of Serra Negra to the east-southeast.
