Barwick-in-Elmet Castle

Barwick-in-Elmet Castle was in the village of Barwick-in-Elmet, West Yorkshire, England to the east of Leeds (gbmapping|SE398375).

Originally the site of an Iron Age hill fort, a motte and bailey castle was erected by the Norman Ilbert de Lacy on the southern end of the hill fort. Most of the bailey to the east of Hall Tower Hill has now been built on and destroyed.
