1958 as Woodbridge High School, and remained a regular neighbourhood high school until1991 , when it became an academy alternative school, changing its name to Woodbridge College, with students in grades 7-OAC. In2000 , Woodbridge College’s alternative school status ended and it returned to being a regular neighbourhood school starting at grade 9. The school building has undergone a major transition during the past four years including a renovation and a new addition housing 16 classrooms. The school’s current enrolment is approximately 700 students. It is the only public high school in York Region where students wear uniforms, a policy which originated during its alternative school days, but still strongly supported by the community.
The school has a fitness center and offers many sports in its extra-curricular program, including badminton, football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and rugby. The schools teams are known as the "Wyverns."
The school has opened its first DECA chapter in 2007 with 12 out of 15 members successfully reaching provincials. Top student Kazim Rizvi was awarded the DECA medal for top 10 at the provincial competition and just clinched a spot at nationals. Two other outstanding members excelled in the e-commerce competition as well. Jason Hallan and John Vu exceeded the provincial standard and came back from nationals with a second place trophy and a prize pot of over $499. This money was later used to purchase Woodbridge College DECA's first ever meeting room piece of entertainment, a Sony Playstation 3 console custom engraved by the corporation to display the letters, DECA.
