Bishop ofDerby is theOrdinary of theChurch of England Diocese of Derby in theProvince of Canterbury .The diocese was formed from part of the
Diocese of Southwell in 1927 under King George V and roughly covers the county ofDerbyshire . Before this time however there had been twoSuffragan Bishops of Derby whilst the bishopric was still within theDiocese of Southwell .The bishop's seat ("cathedra") or see is located in the City of
Derby at The Cathedral Church of All Saints - formerly a parish church which was elevated to cathedral status in 1927. The bishop's residence is Derby Church House, Full Street, Derby.The current bishop is the Right Reverend Dr Alastair Redfern, the 7th Bishop of Derby, who signs "+ Alastair Derby". He is not yet one of the 21 senior bishops (by length of tenure) and so is not entitled to sit in the
