Rome . The widow of Valentinus and daughter ofHerod Metallarius , suffered martyrdom about 126, just after her female slaveSaint Serapia (who had converted her) suffered the same fate, according to the Acts of the martyrdom. In 430 her relics were brought to the
Aventine Hill , to a specially-builtbasilica on the site of her house, originally situated near a temple of Juno. This house may also have formed an early Christian titular house church. She was later declared acanonized Christian saint. The church was initially dedicated to both Sabina and Serapia, though the dedication was later limited to Sabina only (as it still is, asSanta Sabina ). Saint Sabina'sfeast day is celebrated onAugust 29 .External links
