May 14 ,1885 -June 27 ,1956 ) was a Governor and aSenator fromNevada . He was a Democrat.Carville was born at Mound Valley in
Elko County, Nevada in 1985. He graduated from theUniversity of Notre Dame inSouth Bend, Indiana in 1909. He was a United States attorney for Nevada between 1934 and 1938. He became the Governor of Nevada in 1939 and served there until his resignation in 1945. He was appointed onJuly 24 ,1945 to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death ofJames G. Scrugham and served from 1945 to 1947. He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1946. He resumed the practice of law inReno, Nevada until his death there in 1956.
