Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee

Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee

The Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee (also known as CJPAC, CIJA-PAC, and CJA-PAC) is a Canadian political organization.

The Executive Director of CJPAC is Josh Cooper, former federal Canadian Alliance and Conservative candidate in Thornhill. CJPAC is an organization which advocates only on behalf of its members, and does not claim to be representative of the entire Jewish community. Because it is not a registered charity (although it is not-for profit), it s stated aims involve direct political action with politicians on a non-partisan basis. It was formed soon after Cooper's defeat from the former CIJA-PAC, a similar advocacy organization.

Part of its mandate also involves engaging students in the political process, and it runs programs geared towards youth during the summer months. Programs include mock elections and seminars.

CJPAC's formation illicited significant animosity from certain members of the Jewish advocacy community, most notably [B'nai Brith Canada] , as detailed in a series of articles in its newspaper, the "Jewish Tribune", which were harshly critical of CJPAC.
