Vermont Route 153 is a state-numbered Vermont town highway that extends from Vermont Route 30 in North Pawlet to the New York state line in West Rupert. Route 153 goes through Rutland and Bennington Counties, stretching for convert|13.16|mi|km.

Route description

Route 153 begins at the state line in Washington County, New York as a continuation of County Route 153 (former NY 153) in the Rupert Valley. The route heads to the northeast, passing through the village of West Rupert, which is located northeast of the Big Ridge, a convert|2000|ft|m high mountain. Route 153 progresses farther, passing Oak Hill and turning at an intersection with Vermont Route 315 at Meetinghouse Hill. Route 153 then heads northward, intersecting local roads and parallelling the state border. Route 153 then edges closer and closer to the state border, entering West Pawlet. There are a couple connector roads to New York county roads and New York State Route 22 on the other side of the border. Route 153 passes a couple of ponds and crosses the Mettawee River. The river parallels Route 153 for the rest of its length until its terminus at Vermont Route 30 in Pawlet. Vermont Route 149 (former VT 30B) is just to the north of this intersection.
