WFWI began broadcasting in March, 1993. The station was owned by Russ Oasis and Steve Avellone Tony Coles was the Program Director. The format was
Adult contemporary until early 1994. Oasis and Coles then changed the format to The Greatest Hits of the 70's. A few months after the format change, Tony Coles left Fort Wayne for New York'sWLTW and Production Dirctor Keith Harris later took over Programming of WFWI. Soon Harris changed the format to "Classic Hits" and in 1996 signed the "newly syndicated"Bob and Tom Show to the stations morning line-up. In 1997, Federated Media purchased WFWI from Edgewater Radio.One final format change was made soon after the sale to Federated Media from
