It once functioned as a cement factory until it was abandoned. Since then it has be redevelopment into a thriving market with a Regal Cinema theater dominating the oldest building and is surrounded by other businesses including bookstores and many restaurants. The Quarry still maintains the facade of the cement factory and one of its notable features is the several smokestacks that still exist.A popular feature of the Quarry is the life-sized, brightly colored metal cows that are scattered throughout the market place.

Work is currently underway on Quarry Village across from the Alamo Quarry Market.
