The E-70 passes through approximately convert|306|km|abbr=on in Croatia. Starting eastbound at the
Bregana border crossing, it follows the A3 highway toZagreb . A mainline toll plaza is found between the border crossing and the first exit, Bobovica. Travellers can avoid the toll plaza by using the old border crossing and entering the highway at Bobovica. The rest of the highway to Zagreb is free of charge. Upon reaching Zagreb at theJankomir interchange, E70 continues while traffic lanes defaults southbound at theZagreb bypass . Being only four lanes wide, the highway is populated with over 80,000commute rs daily and much more during summer weekends. Unfortunately, the only viable alternative is using Ljubljanska, Zagrebačka andSlavonska Avenue through the city. Although being a shorter and straight route, these avenues are much more congested at rush hour and usetraffic light s. An alternative proposed by Croatian highway authorities is a second bypass, circumventing Zagreb at a larger distance suitable for travellers just passing by. This alternative isn't yet approved. Upon going along the Zagreb bypass, E70 again follows A3 through theIvanja Reka interchange, going eastbound. Another mainline toll plaza is found and the highway utilizesclosed toll collection system until theSerbia n border atLipovac . As with other tolled highways in Croatia, there are little to no feasible alternatives. The old State Route D4 was mostly demolished to make way for the highway and is now concurrent with it. Although roads following the highway do exist, they are much longer than the stretches of highway they bypass. One good alternative is the so-calledPodravska magistrala . It entitles exiting the Zagreb bypass at theSveta Helena interchange and following the B28 expressway to its current end at the Gradec interchange. Then follow the State Route D41 toKoprivnica and turn right on State Route D2 to the Serbian border inIlok .erbia
