It passes several important Slovenian cities, includingMaribor ,Celje andLjubljana all the way to theSlovenian Littoral and in Koper with its importantport .Construction began in
1970 and in1972 the first motorway section in Slovenia was built, connectingVrhnika andPostojna . It was opened for traffic onDecember 29 ,1972 .The connection to Koper was finished on
November 23 ,2004 . The second-to-last part, fromTrojane toBlagovica , was opened onAugust 12 ,2005 . The final section, the Maribor bypass, is to be completed by March 2009.Interchanges
