*January 27 - 3 men are killed in an explosion at the Dowlais Works, East Moors, Cardiff.
*February 4 At Pendine Sands, Sir Malcolm Campbell sets a new world land speed record of 174.88 mph (281.44 km/h).
*February 5 - The first ever radio sports commentary from Wales is on the Wales v Ireland rugby match at Cardiff Arms Park.
*March 1 - In an accident at Marine Colliery, Ebbw Vale, 52 miners are killed.
