The 1927
British Home Championship was a football tournament played between the BritishHome Nations during the 1926/27 season. It was shared by England and Scotland after a series of high scoring draws in the opening matches left England, Wales and Ireland well behind with Scotland ahead, only for England to defeat Scotland in the final, deciding game.Scotland began the strongest team in the competition, beating Wales 3-0 in
Glasgow to take an early lead after England failed to defeat the Irish inLiverpool , Ireland battling to a 3-3 draw. In the second round of matches, Scotland again impressed with a strong victory over Ireland inBelfast , whilst England were again unable to take both points, being held to another 3-3 draw in Wales. In the final matches, Ireland and Wales played out their own 2-2 draw to take joint third place whilst England travelled to Glasgow knowing that only a win would give them a share in the trophy. Against the odds, England beat the Scots 2-1 atHampden Park to secure a half share in the championship, their first trophy of any kind since 1913. It was the sixth time in seven years that Scotland had won the tournament.Table
