(2005)"Fireman" is the first single from
Lil Wayne 's 5thstudio album "Tha Carter II ". It was produced by Doe Boyz. The song was originally recorded with slightly different lyrics. This included a completely modified second and third verse. Many believe this was an attempt by the record label to make a more "radio-friendly" version of the song.Chart performance
"Fireman" managed to peak at #32 on the
Billboard Hot 100 , becoming his most successful single at the time in his career behind "Go DJ " which peaked at #14 on theBillboard Hot 100 . The song also fared well on R&B and rap charts, which peaked at #15 and #10, respectively. The single also became his first chart entry on the Billboard Pop 100 Chart, peaking at #43, while becoming his first chart entry on theHot Digital Songs chart as well, peaking at #38. The single went on to reach Platinum status. This single also sparked heat from fellow hardcore rapperDrag-On as Wayne clearly stole his gimmick as the "Fireman", later causing Drag to make a diss track called The "Original Fireman".
