"Rancid" is the debut full length album by punk band Rancid, released in 1993.

Although Lars Frederiksen had joined the band prior to release, he never actually performed on the album. As such, out of respect to what they had done before him and so not as to take any credit for it, he does not appear in the liner notes for this album.

"Get Out of My Way" is a cover, originally performed by The Uptones.

"Rancid" was also the first of two self-titled albums, the other being the band's 2000 album.

Writing and production

Recording and writing sessions for this album lasted from mid-1992 to early 1993. "Rancid" was recorded at Westbeach Recorders in Hollywood, California with producer Donnell Cameron.

Reception

"Rancid" was released on May 10, 1993 and also the band's first release distributed via Epitaph Records. Although the album never reached any major charts, a video was made for "Hyena".
