Bergen Subdivision

The Bergen Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The line runs from North Bergen north to Bogota [ [http://web.archive.org/web/20030120051712/www.trainweb.org/csxtimetables/Baltimore/Bergen.html CSX Timetables: Bergen Subdivision] ] along a former New York Central Railroad line. At its south end, the River Subdivision becomes Conrail's North Jersey Shared Assets Area; it becomes the River Subdivision at its north end.

History

The line was opened by the New Jersey Midland Railroad in the 1870s. [http://nyc.railfan.net/westshore.html] Through mergers, leases, and takeovers, it became part of the New York Central Railroad and Conrail. When Conrail was broken up in 1999, the Bergen Subdivision was assigned to CSX.
