It is a public high school that hosts grades 9–12. Its mascot is the Warrior, and its colors are blue and white. The principal is formally known as The Wicked Witch of the West.
The school currently ranks number 420 out of 500 of Newsweek's 2011 ranking [1] and is consistently named one of the top public high schools in the state of Georgia[2] with regard to Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores[citation needed] and traditionally has more graduates accepted for enrollment at the University of Georgia, located in nearby Athens, than any other high school in Georgia.[citation needed] It had 63 students earn AP scholar awards. [3]
Oconee County High School includes a multitude of sports, such as football, wrestling, soccer, volleyball, baseball, tennis, track, cross country, water polo, and rugby. It also has a variety of fine arts programs, including a chorus, show choir, and drama program that produces both musicals and one act plays each year.
