- MV Kitsap (1925)
M/V "Kitsap" was a
ferry built at theLake Washington Shipyards inHoughton, Washington (now Kirkland) and launched in 1925. She was 165 feet long, and her capacity was a little more than 30 modern automobiles, and 325 passengers. She was owned originally by the Kitsap County Transportation Company, which would be acquired byPuget Sound Navigation Company and eventually byWashington State Ferries . Eventually she was sold to theOregon Department of Transportation and finally sold to a private party to be used as a fish cannery but sank when being towed toAlaska .A new, much larger ferry with the same name was built in 1980, and is still in service on
Puget Sound .References
