Richard Lake Olver (born 2 January 1947) is Chairman of BAE Systems,[1] the world's largest defence contractor.[citation needed]

Career
Following his studies at City University where he gained a degree in civil engineering, he joined BP in 1973. He became Managing Director of BP Gas Europe in 1988, and CEO of BP Exploration in 1998.[2]
BAE Systems
Olver joined the company in the role of non-executive chairman on July 1, 2004. He replaces Sir Richard Evans, who had served with BAE Systems and its predecessor companies for over 30 years.
Olver also serves on the board of directors of the Reuters news agency.
Personal life
In 1968 he married Pamela Larkin. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.
