Mary Augusta Kennedy née Hickey (b. December 6 1857, Winthrop, Massachusetts - d. May 20 1923) was the wife of Patrick J. Kennedy, mother of Joseph P. Kennedy, and paternal grandmother of assassinated US president John F. Kennedy and his brothers Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. Mary Augusta Hickey was the daughter of James Hickey, a prominent saloon keeper, and Margaret Field Hickey. Both her parents immigrated from County Cork, Ireland.
