The Town of Bassendean is a Local Government Area in the northeastern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth, located convert|6|km|mi|0 west of the industrial centre of Midland and about convert|12|km|mi|0 northeast of Perth's central business district. The Town covers an area of convert|10.4|km2|sqmi|1, maintains 97 km of roads and has a population of 13,463 (2006).

History

The West Guildford Road Board was gazetted in 1901. It was renamed to Bassendean Road Board in 1922, and on 1 July 1961, became a Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act.
