The school has recently been moved onto one expanded site which had originally housed years 7-9 only. The site of the upper school (the oldest building and site of the original grammar school) is currently empty, and is being developed into an NHS centre.

The current headmaster of the school is Ifor Glyn Efans. The two deputy heads are Billy Williams and Janet Hughes. Teachers who have been part of the school for over thirty years include Hywel Williams, Beti Rhys, Raymond Roberts and Gwyn Hughes-Roberts. Other long serving teachers who've been teaching in YDC for twenty/twenty five years include Glenda Barlow, Mike Rayner, Eira Wyn Jones, John Harris, Wendy Davis and John Lloyd Roberts. Recently, teachers who had been part of the school for thirty or forty years have retired including Maggie Smith, Susan Davis, Ian Griffith, Gwyn Williams and D G Williams.
