Smoke-Free Air Act

The Smoke-Free Air Act is a law that went into effect in New Jersey on April 15, 2006. This law prohibits smoking in any indoor public place and work place.

Exemptions

*Casino Floors
*Cigar bars and lounges, who make 15% of their income from tobacco products.
*Tobacco Retail Establishments whose primary (51%) sales are from tobacco products.

Penalties

A person in violation of the law:
*$250 first offense
*$500 second offense
*$1000 for each subsequent violation

Businesses that fail to comply with the law:
*$250 first offense
*$500 second offense
*$1000 for each subsequent violation

moke-Free Casinos

Atlantic Prevention Resources(APR) and Atlantic County REBEL have began petitoning for Smoke-Free Casinos. Casino floors are the biggest exemption from the law. Currently these organisations are working to remove them from the exemption.
