Novi Sad is one of the most important Serbian centers of higher education and research, with four universities, numerous professional, technical, and private colleges, and a couple of research institutes.

Overview

Novi Sad is the home of two universities and four private colleges.[citation needed] Largest educational institution in the city is University of Novi Sad with approximately 38,000 students and 2,700 staff members. It was established in 1960 in Novi Sad with a modern university campus. In Novi Sad there are 37 elementary schools (34 regular and three special ones) with 26,000 pupils.[1] The secondary school system consists of 11 vocational schools and four gymnasiums with about 18,000 students.[1][citation needed]
