It is located in the Satakunta region.
The municipality has a population of 3,344 (31 January 2011)[2] and it covers an area of 1,246.24 square kilometres (481.18 sq mi), of which 800.2 km2 (309.0 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 7.5 inhabitants per square kilometre (19 /sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
