Isojoki

Isojoki

Isojoki ("Storå" in Swedish) is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 2,545 (2006) and covers an area of 647.46 km² of which 4.81 km² is water. The population density is 4.0 inhabitants per km². Although the area isn't too high, the highest hill of southern Finland is located here (Lauhanvuori).

Industry: Wood, potato, machinery.

Tourism: Lauhanvuori national park (hotel, viewtower, big smoke sauna, historical nature with many relics from ice-age)

Nature: Mostly Forest, swamp and agriculture

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

Many fins from this area immigrated to Minnesota, in the USA, as well as Michigan.
