Vintage Faire Mall is a shopping mall located in Modesto, California. It is owned and operated by The Macerich Company and is the only enclosed, super-regional shopping center in Central California. A key to the center's continued success is its adjacent location to State Route 99, a primary artery that runs north/south through California and which 116,000 motorists travel daily. This makes the mall a natural geographic destination for any retailer expanding from San Francisco or Sacramento to Los Angeles.

The mall is anchored by Gottschalks, JCPenney, Macy's and Sears.

hopping

Vintage Faire Mall offers an abundance of shopping for anyone. It features a main central walkway, with tenants placed alongside. There are several adjacent walkways that connect you to entrances, usually accompanied by restaurants, smaller shops and retail carts. Both levels of the mall generally have an equal share of retail. However, the second level has a much higher number of retail aimed at younger adults and teenagers, such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Hollister, PacSun, Quiksilver, Zumiez, and much more. The anchors are connected to both levels, with Gottchalks having a unique third level.

Entertainment and other events

The most popular events currently offered are picture taking with Santa or the Easter Bunny, and the yearly "Young Idol" competition.

Location and accessibility

Vintage Faire Mall is located in a prime position, not only in the Modesto area, but in California. It is about convert|90|mi|km from San Francisco, Fresno, and Sacramento. It is the only super-regional, enclosed, large mall in the region. Finally, it is located centrally in the extremely diverse, highly populated, and popular Central Valley, making it the most logical location for any retailer who is looking to expand from the Los Angeles, Sacramento, or San Francisco markets. The mall is in an easily accessible area of Modesto as well, being placed at the highly congested, multi-intersection of Beckwith Road, State Route 99, Dale Road, Sisk Road, and Standiford Avenue. Public transportation to and from the mall is currently provided by the Modesto Area Express(MAX) and Stanislaus Regional Transit(StaRT).

Renovation

To ensure the mall's dominance over other shopping centers in the region, Macerch invested $10 million in a complete renovation. In 2001, the interior of the mall was completely renovated, with the exterior entrances being updated as well. The interior was given a much more modern feel with sky-lights, and many stainless steel fixtures. The old balcony railing on the second level were replaced with new stainless steel and glass railing. The entire floor was brought up to date with new tile on the first level and carpet on the second. An elevator was placed adjacent to the JCPenney's entrance, making it much easier to get from level one to two instead of walking clearly to the back of the nearest anchor tenant for an elevator ride. The escalators were all modernized and the food court was totally renovated as well. New restroom facilities were placed adjacent to the food court via a hallway.

The Village at Vintage Faire Mall

In early 2006 plans were announced by The Macerich Company to add more than convert|60000|sqft|m2 in a new outdoor urban village with upscale stores and restaurants. The new center will be placed in the existing parking lot on the south side, between Gottschalks and Sears. The project will be completed by 2009, and will create around 300 jobs.

The urban village will have Tuscan influences. It will feature outdoor benches, gardens, fountains, and one interactive fountain. The facade is planned to be a mix of stone and brick with canopies adding shade in the area. Misters, awnings and trees will also add a much cooler and comfortable shopping experience for the warm summer months seen in Modesto. There are planned upscale restaurants and retailers to be placed around plazas that will meet at a main street with available parking.

Considering the villages planned upscale qualities, there are many possibilities as to which stores or restaurants might become tenants. This is the leading cause of the speculation as to which stores might occupy the empty spaces. Some possible retailers include: Crate and Barrel, Dillard's, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Williams-Sonoma, Apple and more.

It is possible the following retailers won't be included: Modesto Junior College Bookstore Annex, Shirtique and Tweens R Us.

There are many possibilities as to what restaurants will come. To date, there is only one restaurant known to the public which is planning on opening at The Villiage.
*Here is a list of shops and retailers at The Villiage:
**BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse-located across from the "Village", now open.
**Coach Inc.-located at the entrance of the "Village"
**Coldwater Creek-located at the entrance of the "Village".
**Cheesecake Factory-A second upscale restaurant will be located across from BJ's, which will create a "second" plaza across from the "Village".
