Bracht-Wachter bodies

Bracht-Wachter bodies

Bracht-Wachter bodies are yellow-white miliary spots in the myocardium, seen most commonly in florid cases of long-standing infective endocarditis. Histologically, these are collections of chronic inflammatory cells, mainly lymphocytes and histiocytes.

These were described by two Germans, Erich Franz Eugen Bracht, an obstetrcian and gyanecologist, and Hermann Julius Gustav Wächter, a physician.

Other findings in infective endocarditis are:
*Osler's nodes
*Janeway lesions
*Roth's spots
*Flea-bitten kidneys- pyemic spots
