It is a member of the familySqualidae , found on thecontinental shelf offQueensland ,Australia , at depths of between 220 and 450 m. The length of the longest specimen measured, an immature male, is 62 cm.The bartail spurdog is a rare, fairly slender dogfish with a broad head and short snout. There is a broad, large medial barbel on the
anterior nasal flaps. Thepectoral fin has a deeply concave posterior margin. The firstdorsal fin is high and short.Coloration is greyish-brown above, white below, with no white spots. The dorsal fins have dusky tips, and there is a bar along the
caudal fin base.Its reproduction is
